Without intending to, Jay Farrar helped found an entire movement ” alternative country ” in the early ’90s. After five years fronting the revolutionary Uncle Tupelo, Farrar then organized Son Volt. Since then, Son Volt has issued six albums, including last year’s acclaimed Okemah and the Melody of Riot and Farrar himself has put out six solo works.
