San Franciscan Ben Fong-Torres was a pioneering writer and editor at Rolling Stone (as portrayed in the film Almost Famous), a radio personality on free-form KSAN, and has authored Hickory Wind: The Life and Times of Gram Parsons and Not Fade Away. Backbeat Books published a second collection this year, Becoming Almost Famous. His book on The Doors is due in October.
