Jeremy Larner wrote Drive, He Said, an underground novel of the ’60s, which Jack Nicholson later directed as a movie. He won a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for his script of The Candidate. He thinks the poems now collected in Chicken on Church are the best work he’s ever done.
