Alejandro Murguía

San Francisco Poet Laureate Alejandro Murguía is author of Southern Front and This War Called Love (both winners of the American Book Award), and this year, Stray Poems (City Lights). He was a founding member and first director of the Mission Cultural Center, and is a professor in Latina/Latino Studies at San Francisco State University. His short story “The Other Barrio” was recently filmed in the Mission District.
