Peter Orner is the author of a novel, The Second Coming of Mavala Shikongo, a San Francisco Chronicle bestseller and finalist for the L.A. Times Book Award, and a story collection, Esther Stories, finalist for the Pen/Hemingway Award. In 2006, Orner received a Guggenheim Fellowship. He teaches at San Francisco State University.
