maya_presentationKidquake in the Schools sends children’s book authors from the Bay Area and beyond into public elementary schools in San Francisco. The kids get to meet real-live authors and illustrators at assembly programs and in smaller classroom settings. Litquake gives each student a book by the visiting author. Carver AssemblyAnd, voilà—a reader is born! Kidquake in the Schools reaches more than 2,000 students in 10 elementary schools in San Francisco each year and gives teachers exciting real-life tools to help children develop reading skills and a life-long passion for reading!

Authors have included Mac Barnett, Francisco Alarcon, Maria Christina Gonzalez, Lissa Rovetch, Annie Barrows, and more!

Spring 2012 schools included: Malcolm X, Serra, Sanchez, Hillcrest, and ER Taylor. Thanks to participating authors Annie Barrows, Elissa Haden Guest, David Schwartz, Tony Robles, and Lewis Buzbee.
