Lit Crawl Global

Where literature hits the streets

What started as an experiment in San Francisco in 2004, has since become one of the most anticipated literary nights of the year — in 13 cities and counting! Lit Crawl SF currently attracts close to 10,000 people, and is the world’s largest such event.

The Lit Crawl brings literature to the streets, featuring smart and silly, worldly and wacky events in venues usual (bars, cafes, galleries, and bookstores) and unusual (police stations, tattoo parlors, barbershops, and cemeteries).

(Check out this oral history of Lit Crawl here on Literary Hub, and this description of Lit Crawl NYC from the New York Times.)

By partnering with a variety of organizations, each Lit Crawl bolsters the local literary scene and captures its city’s unique flavor — all while getting book lovers and revelers alike drunk on words.

For free.

Lit Crawls now take place in San Francisco, New York, Austin, Seattle, Iowa City, Los Angeles, Portland, Denver, Chicago, Helsinki, Cheltenham, and Wellington, New Zealand, with more cities in the works.
