Nina LaCour—Discovering the Heart of Your YA Novel

It is never too early or too late to discover the heart of your work in progress. Whether you have a completed draft or just the inklings of an idea, this seminar will help you identify, explore, and strengthen the big questions and vital themes of your novel. Please join us for a craft-focused afternoon, comprised of lecture, discussion, and writing exercises that will give you strategies and techniques to apply to your current, past, and future works in progress.

Nina LaCour is the author of three critically acclaimed and bestselling young adult novels published by Dutton: Hold Still, The Disenchantments, and Everything Leads to You. She has taught and guest lectured at Berkeley City College, Stanford University and Mills College, where she received an MFA in Creative Writing in 2006. Nina won the 2009 Northern California Book Award for Children’s Literature, was featured in Publishers Weekly as a Flying Starts Author, and was a finalist for the William C. Morris award. 

The seminar will conclude with a wine reception with the author.
