Zahra Noorbakhsh—Writing Humor from Hell

“Funny is funny” is the greatest myth ever written about comedy. All of us have a sense of humor that is specific to a context. The real question is, “Is your audience in on the joke?” How do we set-up conflict, and create pacing that gets that genuine laugh-out-loud moment from readers? How do we walk the line between comedy and drama? How do we take a moment loaded with humor and deflate it so that it’s taken more seriously? How do we know if our writing is as funny to others as it is to ourselves? Humorist and playwright Zahra Noorbaksh leads this three-hour workshop geared toward honing your comedic voice.
