Kirjakrooli, or Lit Crawl Helsinki is a new event in the Helsinki cultural scene that was organised for the first time in May 2014. The second ever Kirjakrooli in Helsinki will take place on June 4th, 2015.
Finns love books and reading. Kirjakrooli wants to invite all book lovers and writers to meet each other in a casual and friendly environment. These encounters are in their element in the easy-going setting of libraries, cafés, restaurants and such. The Kirjakrooli events take place in the very heart of Helsinki and have no admission fees. It's just as easy to go and hear your favourite writer or take a peek at (or a listen to...) someone totally new to you while enjoying a cup of coffee, a beer or a meal. There were readings in Finnish, one in English and collaborations with writers and translators in Swedish and Finnish.
