YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS
Sure, Litquake might be best known for our annual festival taking place in San Francisco and across the Bay Area annually since 1999. But we also have a range of programs happening throughout the year, both locally in the SF Bay Area and spanning the globe, and serving populations from youth to seniors. Read on to learn more about our year-round programs!
Litquake Year-Round
October might be our busiest season, but Litquake presents a variety of literary programs year-round, many in cooperation with partner organizations throughout the Bay Area. From the intimate and insightful to the boisterous and brash, our moveable feast of events for readers and writers help keep Bay Area lit lovers well-fed year-round.
Elder Project
Fighting isolation by bringing the literary community to Bay Area seniors. Litquake’s Elder Project brings creative writing and storytelling workshops to retirement communities and senior centers across San Francisco and Oakland. Weekly writing sessions combined with hands-on creative exercises stimulate the senses and memory, and provide an outlet for elders to preserve and share their stories through creative writing.
Lit Crawl Global
Since 2008, cities across the globe have launched affiliated Lit Crawls: Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Austin, Denver, Chicago, Sebastopol (CA), Minneapolis, Boston, New York City, Columbia (MO), Wellington (New Zealand), Cheltenham (England), Belfast and Kells (Ireland), and Helsinki (Finland). By partnering with a variety of organizations, each Lit Crawl bolsters the local literary scene and captures its city’s unique flavor—all while getting book lovers and revelers alike drunk on words.
