  • Feel free to come and go throughout the day, but please be aware we can't guarantee your spot once you leave! Event staff is not responsible for saving seats and it's first-come, first served.   

  • Food and drinks are allowed, though event staff may ask you to take it outside if your meal is too disruptive or messy -- respect the performers!

  • Yes, this is during Fleet Week and yes, the venue is smack-dab in the middle. We appreciate your understanding...and recommend you budget some extra time for parking. 

About Dorothy Allison

Dorothy Allison (1949-2024) was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, attended Florida Presbyterian College on a National Merit Scholarship and was a graduate student at Florida State University and the New School for Social Research at NYU. In the 1970s and 1980s she was an activist in the Women’s Movement and editor of a number of feminist journals and publications in Washington, DC, and New York City, gaining recognition as an outspoken feminist and lesbian activist. In 1992, Allison’s novel Bastard Out of Carolina was published by Dutton Press. The book was selected as a NY Times Notable Book and was a finalist for a National Book Award. It went on to garner an American Library Association Award and the Ferro-Grumley Award, and in 1996 it was made into an award-winning film, directed by Angelica Huston.
