LITQUAKE CURATOR RESIDENCY
Litquake's Curator Residency was created to combat an often homogenous and culturally inequitable literary landscape. It’s a unique opportunity for emerging curators and writers to utilize mentorship and support to execute an events series at our tentpole program, Litquake Festival. While we’ve operated a guest curator program for several years, we’ve formalized the process in 2026 and residencies will be awarded each year through an open call moving forward.

2026 Curator Residents
Josiah Luis Alderete
Josiah Luis Alderete is a full blooded pocho and left handed callero de Aztlan who is the host of the long-running Bay Area monthly Latinx reading series Speaking Axolotl. Currently he helps tend the Portal known as Medicina Para Pesadillas on 24th Street.
Micheal Foulk
Micheal Foulk is a non-binary queer comedian, writer, and construct thriving in Oakland, California. They are the curator and host of the film screening series Queer Film Theory 101 produced in collaboration with Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas with screenings across the country. Micheal's essays and articles have been published in Slate, VICE, Intomore, 68to05, and TimeOut Magazine.
London Pinkney
London Pinkney is a writer and the editor-in-chief of The Ana. She is currently working on her debut essay collection that explores the history & culture of Black Californians.
Jaelynn Walls
Jaelynn Walls is an Oakland-based curator, administrator, and author. Their novel The Queer Girl is Going to Be Okay (Levine Querido, 2023) was named a Publishers Weekly Best of the Year YA novel. They have written for Teen Vogue, Artsy, Google Arts and Culture, and was a 2022 Lambda Literary Fellow.
